汝州是河南有名的曲剧之乡,2006年5月这里举办了首届河南曲剧艺术节。汝州人说,河南曲剧是一种飞翔的文化,浪漫的文化,民众的文化,雅俗共赏的文化,长着“飞毛腿”的文化……我以为此言十分精辟!是的,河南曲剧从1926年5月18日汝州的班社登上舞台演出到中华人民共和国成立,短短23年,就以惊人的速度普及到河南的城乡,进而扩展到湖北、安徽、陕西、山西、河北、山西、福建、贵州、云南等省,成为河南第二大剧种。50年代末应邀北上,进京到中南海演出,誉满京城。
