文通塔旧称尊胜塔,又称文峰塔。在淮安市内勺湖公园内,城西北角的运河之畔。始建于东晋大兴二年(319年),多次重修。文通塔是一座具有佛教传统的古建筑,全部是砖结构,无梁柱,现为七层八角形,六七两层无塔门。内部空腔。五层以上是穹窿式的砖顶,顶上为八角形藻井。塔高约23米,塔身呈抛物线形状,较优美。1958年、1966年、1979年曾三次修葺,恢复了登塔转梯和下面三层楼板。东、南增建古式花墙与外界隔开,院门题额“文通塔苑”。
