This article examines the part of the spectrum logging tool in Dresser Atlas’ 3700 NC logging system, including its hardware and software. Dresser Atlas began formally using spectrum logging in the 3700 CNC Logging System (the CLS system) since 1983. In the aspect of hardware, the No. 9 plate and the No. 3 plate have been added into the 3764 cased well panel. The former is the interface between downhole instruments such as gamma ray spectrometry, carbon / oxygen ratio logging and dual neutron lifetime logging, and a computer. The latter is a display interface for displaying spectral data. In the software aspect, the program of collecting, processing and displaying the spectrum data is added. Here, the logic and structure of the hardware of the energy spectrum logging part, the program flow of the software and the cooperation process of the hardware and the software are analyzed.
