中国传统插花中常用的容器有瓶、盘、缸、碗、篮、筒六大类。每类容器对花材的衬托作用。表现造型,强化意境的效果各不相同,要求的插花技巧也不一样,所以根据使用容器的不同,中国传统插花习惯上可以分为瓶花、盘花、缸花、碗花、篮花、筒花六大类。在第六届中国国际花卉园艺震览会期间,来自北京的薛立新、王绥枝、罗宁三位花艺师在中国农业展览馆向大家演示了这六大类中国传统插花的插制技巧。
