大约许久,新城剧场都没有象今天这样座无虚席了。《小长安》一开场,就把我们带到熟悉的令人亲切的沣河边上,把小镇的一角侧切给大家。这是关中平原一个普普通通的小镇,平平凡凡的四户人家,和这些手艺人、小贩、集镇女子……平淡无奇的生活流程。当然,戏中不乏感人动怀的场面,引人发笑的喜剧情愫和浓郁的生活化、风俗化细节,但编导并不以此为满足,廉价地歌颂“农村改革新面貌”,而是力图把视野放在更宏阔的社会历史背景之中,透过生活表面的涟漪,表现他们身上负荷沉重的传统文化因子;从历史变迁的复杂性和艰巨性中,揭示我们这个古老民族必须扬弃的历史文化积淀。“汉家城阙疑天上,秦地山水似镜中”。
