Humans have adapted themselves to life in all the different climates of the world, from the equatorial tropical to the polar frigid zone, both of which have a great impact on human life and health. Extreme weather (such as heavy rains, floods, hurricanes) that occur in a short period of time (for example, a few days) can seriously affect human health. Poor people are more vulnerable to climate change than their affluent counterparts. In the world, of the approximately 80,000 people who die each year from natural disasters, nearly 95% live in poor countries.
