受８号台风登陆后减弱为低气压与副高和东北南下的弱冷空气的共同影响，８月３、４日在冀、晋交界的太行山中段地区出现一次广泛而持久的特大暴雨。处于该天气系统边缘的太原市西山地区以石千峰、庙前山为中心的区域亦降特大暴雨。梅洞沟实测４０小时雨量达３１４ｍｍ。虎峪河、风峪河、九院沙河都暴发了山洪。其中虎峪河洪水最大，河龙湾洪峰流量３９１ｍ３／ｓ。官地矿、杜儿坪矿被淹，造成巨大经济损失（２亿元）和人身伤亡。
