During an in-depth study of the current financial and economic crisis, some Marxist foreign countries showed a downward trend in profit margins in the major capitalist countries before the crisis broke out. Whether Marx’s trend of declining average profitability could explain the root causes of the current crisis, etc. There was a heated debate. Some scholars believe that the decline of the profit margin proved by experience is the root cause of the current crisis. Some scholars think that the pre-crisis profit rate is on the rise. The downward trend of the profit rate of Marx does not help to interpret the crisis. The dissertation makes a comprehensive review of the disagreements between scholars from both experience, theory and reality, and makes comments and perspectives on the theoretical significance and prospects of the debate itself.
