古丈是一个少数民族聚居区,山高、交通不便,文化极其落后,90％以上是文盲。解放以来,經过几年的扫盲工作,取得了一定的成績,在58年生产大跃进的形势下,掀起了一个全民性的扫盲跃进大高潮,仅1个多月的时間,全县已有各种形式不同的校或組528个,扫盲队伍8,750人,組織了17,296人入学,占全县青壯年文盲的92.1％,并已实現无盲乡1个,无盲社20个。在扫盲工作上,我們采取了如下的作法:
