This article is John Tagg (professor at Binghamton University in the United States and influential visual culture scholar. His representative books include “Representation of Tolerance: Essay on Photography History” and “Trained Scenic Frame: Photography The Truth and Meaning of Snap ”) at the 10th Shanghai International Photography Week and International Photography Forum. The forum was held on June 24, 2010 in Shanghai Science Hall. The theme of the forum was “Image and Globalization.” In his speech, Taggart clearly put forward the viewpoint that localization of photography critics and photographic history should be localized. This is in line with the “glocalization” advocated by the famous British sociologist Roland Robertson. It is in the context of “Globalization ” that we must pay more attention to the local culture. Local arts, local interests, local voices point out coincidently and inspiringly.
