悉尼大学的光纤技术中心(OFTC)在澳光纤研究方面具有突出地位。该中心成立于1988年12月,其主要目标是从事特殊光纤CA-SOF的设计制作及应用的研究开发。研究力量由大学的物理系、化学系和工程系派员组成,目前有高级研究员11人,助理研究人员15人。西蒙·波尔博士是该中心的创始人也是现任的技术主任。他在光纤研究领域尤其在特殊光纤制作、光纤激光方面有特长,在国际上享有声誉。
OFTC at the University of Sydney holds a prominent position in fiber optics research in Australia. The center was established in December 1988, its main goal is to engage in special fiber CA-SOF design and application of research and development. The research force consists of university physics department, chemistry department and engineering department staff. There are 11 senior researchers and 15 assistant researchers. Dr. Simon Boll is the founder and current technical director of the center. He has a reputation in the field of optical fiber research, especially in special optical fiber fabrication and fiber laser technology.
