Recently, the Australian Standards Institute called on toy importers and manufacturers to ensure that their products comply with Australian standards and existing laws related to toy safety. Dr Bronwyn Evans, chief executive of Standards Australia, said consumers are increasingly demanding to determine if products are safe and compliant. The Australian Standards Institute cites many regulations regarding toys. Supplier is obligated to ensure that consumer products are safe for the intended consumer in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law. Importers and local manufacturers need to ensure that quality control and assessment are based on applicable safety standards as part of their processes.
