随着电信运营商各种新兴通信数据业务的迅速发展和带宽需求的不断增长,无线业务的IP化进程和商业客户的VPN业务,对电信运营商城域承载网的带宽,调度,灵活性,成本,质量等综合要求越来越高。电信业也正在发生重大的变革,通信网络从2G到3G,后续向4G演进,网络的IP化、带宽化发展过程中对传输网提出更新的需求。当今基于SDH/MSTP、以太网交换机、路由器的传送网络分别承载不同业务、各自维护的局面,无法实现多业务统一承载和运营成本降低。传送网如何采用灵活、高效和廉价的分组传送平台才能实现全业务统一承载和网络融合呢?分组传送网(PTN)由此应运而生。
