The new spring wheat variety Yongliang No.4 was crossed in 1973 with the Mexican cultivar Sonora 64 (female parent) and Hongtu (male parent) of the Guangzhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences. After many years of breeding in the north and south, the system was selected and bred. From 1979 to 1980, he took part in the high-fertilization group experiment in the irrigated area, with the average yield of 746.4-913.3 kg, ranking the first place, with a yield increase of 8.8-18.3%
