Foreword Songjak japonica is native to Japan and occurs in seven species of pine trees in Asia and North America (Table 1), all members of the Pinus, Sylvestres Loud subgroup. Most of the 19 species in this subgroup are distributed in Eurasia, with the United States and Canada only distributed in the United States. It is known that eight of the other subgroups of Pinus are not suitable hosts for M. japonicum (Table 1), and these species may be susceptible to M. przewalskii due to phytochemical properties. In the native area of Japan, Pinctada melitensis infects two native P.densiflora Sieb. & Zucc and P. thnubergiana France, which range from north to south of this state (41 ° 31’N)
