对于初到美国的华人来说，美国的所有东西中最贵的是书。美国的物质实在丰富，而且物美价廉，可是书对于一般华人来说，却算得上一种奢侈品。美国一般图书的价钱大都在十几二十元，一些教科书和工具书往往要五六十元，不是十分需要和热爱读书的华人，一般是不舍得拿辛苦钱去买?
For the first Chinese who come to the United States, everything in America is the most expensive book. The United States is rich in materiality and inexpensive, but the book is a luxury for the average Chinese. Most books in the United States are mostly in the price range of more than ten to twenty yuan. Some textbooks and reference books often cost fifty to sixty dollars. It is not a Chinese who is in great need of reading books and is generally not willing to pay for it.
