【摘 要】
：
林纾在中国文学史上大概不算无名之辈。他翻译的《巴黎茶花女遗事》（1899），一时“销尽支那荡子魂”（严复语）。严复、康有为盛赞其译文之精美、感情之真挚、影响之广泛，郑振铎、周作人等纷纷认其为中国现代文学之先驱，当时在中国演出的莎士比亚戏剧基本均以林纾译本为蓝本，苏曼殊、周作人等的写作也多受他影响。一本译著令林纾暴得大名，而将他推上时代风口浪尖的事件则是他与《新青年》同人关于古文存废问题的争论（19
