“适时”和“沉思”两词的结合实际上包含了一个悖论:首届亚洲双年展暨第五届广州三年展的策展理念试图探讨或描绘“适时”(西式,全球化或“世界时间”:加速、速度、能见度、疲惫、逾矩/激进现代性、超资本主义、知识生产和经济)和“沉思”(亚洲时间:静思、专注、现代性的另一种模式、另外一套价值观、智慧)。换句话说,新广州三年展阐明了一个东西方悖论——矛盾、内在冲突、缺少任何一方都不能存在,还有或有必要的竞争挑衅——这个悖论当下正在塑造或重塑亚洲对时间的理解和体验。
The combination of “timely” and “contemplative” actually contains a paradox: the curatorial philosophy of the 1st Asian Biennale and the 5th Guangzhou Triennial seeks to explore or portray “timely” Western, Global, or World Time: Acceleration, Speed, Visibility, Weary, Moments / Radical Modernity, Ultracapitalism, Knowledge Production, and Economics) and Meditations (Asia Time: Meditation, Focus Another mode of modernity, another set of values, wisdom). In other words, the new Guangzhou Triennial clarifies an East-West paradox - conflicts, internal conflicts, the absence of any one party, and the necessary or necessary provocation of competition - the paradox that is shaping or reshaping Asia Understanding and experience of time.
