用聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳和淀粉凝胶电泳分析40个水稻杂交组合的F_1苗期酯酶同工酶,其中15个组合用来分析不同酶谱和杂种优势的关系.发现4种同工酶类型,即互补型、偏父本型、偏母本型和无差异型.杂种优势强的杂种大多数是互补型和偏父本型,而低杂种优势的一般是无差异型.同时亦发现共显性阳极酶带E_3~S和E_3~F可以作为标记酶带,在该位置上,母本的单一酶带和F_1的互补酶带的差异,可以用来测定杂交水稻杂种种子的纯度.
