圆形图案被蒙古族人统称为普斯贺。圆形图案元素有着十分重要的艺术性,尤其在蒙古族地毯图案的表现中圆形图案具有举足轻重的位置。这种现象充分的反映了蒙古民族崇尚圆形的独特审美心理,因此以圆形为造型和装饰特点这一习惯普遍存在于他们的生活中。圆形符号在很多北方民族心中都是太阳的象征,表现出他们崇拜太阳向往光明的民族心理。至今仍是蒙古族生活中具有特殊意义的符号。在地毯上的圆形图案不仅反映了游牧民族的生产生活,也反映了在发展过程中所融合的其它地域文化,由此产生的图案风格也有了发展和创新。
