The release of HIV-1 infected cells in cervical and vaginal secretions is a decisive factor in the sexual transmission and vertical transmission of HIV-1. This study aimed to assess whether oral or injectable contraceptives, vitamin A deficiency, and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) could affect the release of HIV-1-infected cells in the cervix and vagina.
