In the second half of the 19th century, two large-scale peasant revolutions took place in East Asia. This is the peasant revolution in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom and the peasant revolution in Korea. Scholars from China and South Korea have carried out a large number of detailed and in-depth studies respectively on their own peasants and have achieved fruitful results.
