中山陵园位于南京市东郊紫金山,海拔428.57米,总面积45870亩,大部分为林区,果园、苗圃、花圃、茶园、植物园嵌镶其间,生态环境十分复杂.林区乔木主要有马尾松、黑松、桧柏、麻栎、枫香、刺槐、榆、薄壳山核桃等.灌木有白檀、山胡淑、紫薇、野蔷微等.地被物以禾本科、莎草科、菊科、豆科为主.1976—1980年,我处在森林害虫综合防治中,共挂出鸟箱307只,招引率为9.1—80.9%,一定程度增加了林间益鸟种群数量.为了进一步搞清楚紫金山鸟群种类及其对消灭害虫的作用,在南京林产工业学院周世锷教授的帮助指导下,于1979年4月—1980年11月,对中山陵园内的鸟类进行了系统的调查.
