Cultural images have always been a thorny issue in translation. The handling of cultural images has always been a topic of controversy in the translation community. There are two main types of translation: “naturalization” and “alienation”. The former advocates the translation as the guideline to minimize the language “barrier” when the target audience understands it, while the latter advocates that the source language be the center and the original language “foreign style ” and “foreign flavor ” should be preserved to the maximum. Since the 1920s, controversy over the translation of “MilkyWay” has never stopped. On the basis of a review of the translation history, this article focuses on the value orientation in the translation of cultural images.
