语言是文化的载体和交流的工具,它不能脱离文化而存在,文化是语言赖以生存和发展的土壤。世界上任何一种语言都涉及到人类社会中政治、经济、历史、地理和民俗风情等各个领域,它承载着丰富的文化内涵,鲜明地体现着民族文化的特点;姓名是人类社会中最普遍的语言现象,它是人们籍以相互区别的标志或符号,具有悠久的形成历史,为某一民族所特有,因此有着丰富的文化内涵,体现了民族文化的特点。本文就英美姓名文化现象做了一定的分析和探讨,以便介绍给学生,让他们对西方姓名文化有进一步的了解,从而提高他们跨文化交际的能力。
Language is the carrier of culture and the tool of communication. It cannot exist without culture. Culture is the soil on which language depends on survival and development. Any language in the world involves politics, economy, history, geography, folk customs and other fields in human society. It carries a rich cultural connotation and clearly embodies the characteristics of national culture. Name is the most common in human society. The linguistic phenomenon, which is a sign or symbol that distinguishes people from each other, has a long history of formation and is endemic to a certain nation. Therefore, it has rich cultural connotations and reflects the characteristics of national culture. This article has done a certain analysis and discussion about the English and American name cultural phenomenon, in order to introduce to the students, let them have a better understanding of the Western name culture, so as to improve their ability of cross-cultural communication.
