The rate of drug release in the inert polymeric film can vary with the area parameters of the film, the nature of the polymer, and the concentration of drug in the film. The use of hydrophilic polymers such as hydroxypropyl cellulose as an addition to polyvinyl acetate films can cause large changes. Recently, from the study on the relationship between polyethylene glycol 4000 and the barrier membrane, it has been found that the permeability of the ethylcellulose film can be significantly increased with increasing the amount of polyethylene glycol 4000 added. This article is to investigate the effect of polyethylene glycol on drug release in ethylcellulose films. Salicylic acid and caffeine were used to explore the effect of membrane composition on drug release.
