从1986—1987学年度起,五年制外语系增设了一门新课程——第二外语教学法(四年级,第八学期,共20课时)。开设本课程的必要性是很明显的:多数师范院校的外语系是培养懂两门外语的师资的,但至今尚未规定直接进行第二外语教学法培训,尽管不同语言的具体教学法有时会有很大的差别,就连中学和综合教学法也不尽相同。第二外语教学法课程有助于培养精通第二外语教学法的教师,从总体上加深和扩大教学法的培训,为形成教学法技能,同时也为确立教师的教学法思维作出贡献。直接的第二外语教学法培训是在优越的条件下实现的——那就是在大学生学完第一外语教学法课程之后,又经过了第一外语教育实习监真正理解到精通教学法和熟悉中学
