在南京邮政开办100周年之际,一座现代化的邮政大厦拔地而起,矗立于南京市鼓楼广场的东南侧。邮电部刘立清副部长在视察了邮政大厦营业现场后说,南京邮政大厦代表了目前我国邮政的一流水平。营造舒适环境邮政大厦是新型的营业场所。基于群众的用邮习惯,我们把邮政传统业务(函、包、汇等)放在裙楼一层,为突出邮政储蓄,在大厅的一侧设置单开门面邮政储蓄厅。裙楼二层用作报刊、图书、音像制品销售。三层是集邮营业大厅及商函广告业务中心。我们注重应用邮政科研新成果新设备,改变传统邮政手工操作的落后面貌。营
