油田开发的不断深入必然对油藏的精细描述和准确预测提出了更高要求,相对于早期和中期的油藏描述,现代油藏描述具有整体性、全面性、可预测性、分阶段性、先进性、早入性等突出特点,不仅具有更高的精细程度、更小的流动基本单元、更强的预测性,并且正形成一套基于地质统计学的随机模拟技术,动态的、集成的油藏模型建立技术,以及开发地震技术。其中最具代表性的有地震反演、四维地震、井间地震、全三维可视化、多功能综合性一体化三维油藏描述软件等技术,这些技术的应用促进了油藏精细描述的发展。
