Objective To investigate the MRI manifestations of abnormal parenchymal brain adjacent to cerebral venous vascular malformations. Materials and Methods The imaging data of 29 patients with cerebral venous vascular malformations were retrospectively studied. The incidence and MRI findings of adjacent parenchymal abnormalities in the drainage area were analyzed. Results The incidence of adjacent parenchymal abnormalities in venous vascular malformations was 48.3% (14/29). Including cavernous hemangioma with the incidence of 13.8% (4/29), MRI can be seen more obvious “iron ring sign”; venous malformation drainage area signal abnormalities was 34.5% (10/29) , Which includes white matter lesions, bleeding or calcification. Conclusions The incidence of cerebral parenchymal abnormalities in the region of venous vascular malformations drainage is high. MRI can clearly show that the etiology is not clear and may be related to the local hemodynamic changes.
