A study by Scientia Horticulturae (May 2013) reported that researchers from Japan’s Tottori University studied varieties and regional differences that pear shoots break from natural dormancy. Researchers using sand pear varieties and wild pear varieties as materials, to study the bud breaking dormancy required cooling capacity (CR). The results showed that the CR of Fengshui pear and Yushui pear buds was higher than that of flower buds. The CR values of Yukihito and Shinki pear in three areas (Tottori-wintry area, Saga-Winton area, Kumamoto-warm winter area) are completely dependent on the cumulative low-temperature demand of each variety and area .
