美国前总统理查德·尼克松在《领袖们》一书中写道:“将军们所对付的原料是人;在国民生活中,政客们要对付的也是人。在我看来,大企业的经理们的原料也不是铁矿石、棉花或生橡胶,我坚持他们的基本原料是人。”尼克松的这番话道出了行为科学的关键所在,即强调做好人的工作。行为科学着重研究的就是如何通过改善人与社会环境以及人与人之间的关系来提高劳动生产率和工作效率,从而体现出“管理就是人事管理”这一论断的。
