《弋阳县志》记载:“大禾谷米质韧,制作餐用三蒸三春,弋市煮米为之,含水多而适口,省垣呼弋阳团子,最驰名外县,土商多运往他处作赠品”。弋阳团子始于明末清初,距今已有400余年历史,它是由弋阳糯谷(又名大禾谷)加工而成的年糕,也叫弋阳大米果,深受群众喜爱。
