The first voyage between Denmark and China began in 1730. After the maiden voyage, the Danish company in Asia was established. The company relies on royal franchises to monopolize Danish shipping and trade in Asia. Until 1806, a total of 116 ships were dispatched to China. Denmark mainly exports silver, while its imports include tea leaves, as well as small quantities of porcelain, medicines, silk and lacquer ware. Due to the huge auction value of these imports, this trade brought huge profits. After 1814, the Danish Asian companies were facing a decline, and the last fleet of ships dispatched to China returned to Denmark in 1834. Danish companies in Asia were dissolved in 1844, after which all Danes were free to trade with China.
