历代江西道教琴人是古代琴家中的一个重要琴人群体。道家道教之修真人士皆以道洽琴心,皆视古琴为调心、修身、养生的道器,并由此深刻地影响到古琴音乐的种种特色。为中国文化的象征的古琴在道教文化中呈现出的是承载中国人超越性的精神世界的内涵,因此道教文化背景的古琴构成了琴乐思想的一个重要的观念层面。在深厚道教文化背景下,江西道教琴人姜夔、朱权等在历史上对古琴的发展有着诸多贡献。由此可以看到文化地理学视野中的江西古琴艺术与江西道教地域环境之间深层的历史关系。
