埃及埃及是文明古国,公元前40年,埃及人就能观察星象了,他们发现天狼星和太阳一同升起,尼罗河水立时上涨。埃及把尼罗河涨水的这一天作为新年的开始,称为“涨水新年”。埃及的克鲁特人迎接新年,在门口放一张桌子,七八只碟子供着大豆、扁豆、紫苜蓿和小麦的颗粒,还有好些绿色植物的小芽,这象征丰裕。献给神的东西越多,新年的收成就越多。埃及的新年在秋天,因埃及的农业生产是从秋季开始的。
