Objective To compare the blood physiological and biochemical indexes of adult and old macaques in order to provide reference for future experimental research. Methods Twenty healthy adult macaques and 12 aged macaques were randomly selected. The male and female were randomly selected. Venous blood was drawn from the saphenous vein of the hindlimb under conscious condition. Blood and blood biochemical tests were performed. Blood gas was drawn from the femoral artery for blood gas analysis. Results In the blood routine, the mean RBC hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) in aged macaques was significantly higher than that in adult macaques (HCG), platelets (PLT), and RDW-SD (P <0.05). The numbers of LYMPH ~ # and EO ~ # of the aged macaques were significantly lower than those of the adult macaques (P <0.01). The white blood cell count (WBC) Significantly lower than adult macaques (P <0.05). In blood biochemistry, monoamine oxidase (MAO) and triglyceride (TRIG) of aged macaques were significantly higher than that of adult macaques (P <0.01); alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood glucose (GLU), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) (P <0.05). The superoxide dismutase (SOD) in aged macaques was significantly lower than that in adult macaques (P <0.01). In the arterial blood gas, the lactic acid (Lac) in the aged macaque was significantly higher than that in the adult macaque (P <0.01). The PaCO 2, HCO 3 ~ +, TCO 2, Base excess (BE) was significantly lower than that of adult macaques (P <0.01). Conclusion Some hematological indexes of adult and old macaques have significant differences. Biomedical studies should be fully considered.
