中国金属学会和冶金部钢铁司联合举办的竖炉球团学术讨论会于1981年12月11日至17日在杭州召开.会上主要由冶金部杭钢竖炉调查组介绍“杭钢竖炉与酸性球团的调查报告”.内容包括:杭钢竖炉球团生产情况;球团与烧结生产技术经济指标分析;酸性球团的冶炼效果;球团质量与机理;球团竖炉大型化等.与会代表就上述内容进行了广泛讨论.杭钢8米~2竖炉于1970年投产.由于结块与设备问题多,未能连续生产.1972年增设导风墙与烘干床新技术以及采取其他改进措施后,开始好转.1978年加膨润土生产酸性球团,产量逐年提高.1980年年产量突破30万吨,竖炉利用系数4.83吨/米~2小时,达到国内先进水平.球团矿质量较好.理化性能:抗压强度>200公斤/个球,转鼓强度>90%;Fe~55%;FeO<2%;S<0.03%,MgO4~6%,CaO/SiO_2~0.3,成份稳定;粒度较均匀,
