长沙县坚持以科学发展观为指导,结合县情实际认真落实“四化两型”战略,全县经济社会发展不断迈上新台阶,综合实力和竞争力在全国百强县的位次不断前移。在2012年中国中小城市科学发展百强评比中,排名由2007年第58位跃升为第13位,正式成为中西部第一县;在全国县域经济基本竞争力百强县排位由第45位挺进全国前15强,连续五年蝉联中部第一。
