Objective To explore the change of subarachnoid size with age and its clinical significance. Methods The head CT images of 311 healthy adults (192 males and 119 females) in Yanbian area were measured in 5 subarachnoid pools and analyzed by variance and u test. Results Before the age of 50, there was no significant difference between the measured values. After the age of 50, CT measurements of longitudinal longitudinal fissure pool and lateral cerebral foramina significantly increased, while those of the other three cerebral pools showed no significant difference among all age groups Sex differences. Conclusion After 50 years of age, the longitudinal fissure pool and the lateral fossa of the brain increased significantly. The size of the two pools had practical significance for determining the size of cerebral cistern and whether there was cerebral atrophy
