Born in South Africa, Neville Gabie studied at the Royal College of Art in England. Is currently a more active British public artist. His work spans a variety of media, from sculptures and installations to photography and video, focusing on changes in public spaces and interpreting these changes in an artistic way. He was an Antarctic resident artist traveling with the British Antarctic expedition team and has participated in numerous public art projects such as the renovation of downtown Bristol and the Liverpool Industrial Park project. His works have been exhibited at the Tate Modern in the United Kingdom and the Metropolitan Museum of Photography in Japan. This time, Neville Gabie was chosen as the only resident artist in London Olympic Park, authorized by the Olympic Games Authority, as a 16-month resident art creation. He was allowed to freely enter and leave the Olympic Park during the construction of the park, observe closely the park construction process, and use art to detect, record and respond to changes in the area. Our featured reporter, Zhang Yujie, interviewed artist Neville Gabie during his London visit and talked with him about urban public art.
