We studied the effects of hypoxemia (FIO_2 = 0.13) and hypercapnia (FIO_2 = 0.07) on the response to cyclothyronation (peak electrocardiogram with peak integral, CTEMG) at increased RI influences. Five dogs breathe spontaneously through the upper airway (uAB) or tracheal intubation (TB) after anesthesia. Results: When the indoor air was respressed by UAB, the gradual increase of RI increased the amplitude of CTEMG, the increase of upper airway pressure (Paw) and the increase of esophageal pressure (Pes), which indicated the inspiratory driving force increased), but the tidal volume (V_T) decreases.
