Technology Pioneers Companies use a variety of technologies to drive their business growth, and their performance is significantly better than other small and medium-sized businesses. They are pleased to embrace a new wave of information technology and thus stand out in the market. With the support of cloud technologies, SMEs can acquire and use many advanced technologies like large multinationals. However, their use of the latest information technologies is mixed. As the pace of innovation accelerates, this new “digital divide” will result in a further widening of the performance gap between SMEs. To further understand the role of accelerating growth in SMEs and the role that technology applications play in this process, Microsoft commissioned the Boston Consulting Group to write this independent report. The BCG has discussed with Microsoft executives about the research findings contained in the report, but all analyzes and conclusions are being conducted and summarized by BCG.
