一千两百多年前,中国历史上相当于唐、宋时期(公元738-1253年)白族在我国西南地区建立的南诏、大理两个古国,绵延了五百多年的时间,堪称距今立国千年的古国。如今在大理的苍山,洱海之间随处还可见众多的古城,古遗址,古村落,古塔,古城楼等。一千多年以来白族先民留下的遗迹,矗立在大理南城门外的文献楼就是国家第一批公布的历史文化名城,大理古代的历史见证之一。
