Previous observers of myocardial ischemia after ventricular wall motion changes are limited to the load, acute myocardial infarction and happy surgery conditions. The application of two-dimensional echocardiography in observing the effect of human coronary artery occlusion and reperfusion on the ventricular wall motion under closed-chest conditions has not been reported yet. The authors used the opportunity to completely occlude local coronary blood flow with catheter balloon inflation in percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), and analyzed the effect of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion on the work of human left ventricular wall. Methods: Eighteen patients with symptomatic high-grade coronary artery stenosis underwent two-dimensional ultrasonography at PTCA. Nine of them were stable
