在退休后为脑性残废儿童做一点工作是我的宿愿。因此,在这次访美期间,我参观和学习的重点是有关儿童脑性残废的预防和治疗。去年二月,我在美国到费城“人类潜能开发研究所”参加“治疗儿童脑损伤”的加强学习班。因为我是从地球另一端来的远方客人,主人特意安排我在研究所本部住宿。这就使我有机会遇到了一群经过“智力开发”的非常可爱的儿童。十个月的小娃娃不会说也不会走,可就会认字了。他们能爬着从一堆字卡中,把妈妈所要的字卡检出来,高高兴兴地举给妈妈看。(图一是妈妈在教八个月的小乔伊认“妈妈”这个字。) 两岁的娃娃具有小学一年级的阅读能力,这在经过智力开发的儿童中是极为普遍的。(图二是小潘姆在读书。)小潘姆才三岁,已经有小学三年级的水平了,她已读了二百多本儿童读物。
It is my destiny to do some work for disabled children after retirement. Therefore, during my visit to the United States, my visit and study focused on the prevention and treatment of cerebral disability in children. Last February, I was in the United States to attend an intensive study class in Philadelphia “Institute for Human Potential Development” to participate in “Treatment of Children Brain Injury”. Because I am a distant guest from the other end of the earth, the host specially arranged for my stay in the institute headquarters. This gives me a chance to meet a group of very adorable children who have been “intellectually exploited.” Ten months old baby will not say or walk, but she will recognize it. They can crawl from a pile of words in the card, the mother card to check out, happily give her mother to see. (Figure 1 is the word Joey, who mum taught for eight months, “Mum”.) Two-year-olds have first-year reading ability, which is extremely common among children who have been mentally handicapped. (Photo 2 is Little Pam reading.) Little Pam, who is three years old, has the third grade in elementary school and has read more than 200 children’s books.
