In some clinical situations, H 2 receptor antagonists need to be administered intravenously to reduce gastric acidity in fasting states. This study examined the effect of 300 mg of cimetidine administered intravenously every 6 hours on gastric pH and compared with 50 mg of ranitidine given intravenously every 6 hours or 8 hours.
