IBM researchers built the first complete electronic integrated circuit around a single carbon nanotube (CNT) molecule: a ring oscillator that is almost 100 million times faster than the previously demonstrated circuit using nanotubes. Although it is still slower than the current silicon chips, the IBM team believes the new nano-fabrication process will eventually shed some light on the ultra-performance potential of CNT electronics.
