许地山名赞玥,号地山,1893年出生于台湾。三岁时,因父亲反对清廷将台湾割让给日本,领兵抗日失败,全家舍弃家产,迁回大陆。父亲是正直的读书人,爱生活,爱孩子,他曾以不求表面繁华,埋在地下积蓄营养,供人食用的花生作比,教育孩子们要做对社会有用的人。这件童年旧事使许地山终身不忘,并由此有了一个使用最多的笔名:落华生。因几经变故,家道日渐贫困,许地山19岁即开始教书谋生。21岁时,又到缅甸仰光中华学校教了二三年的书。缅甸以佛教立国,国中寺庙遍布,佛教教义规范
