油画进入中国,历史久远,但中国人研习油画,距今只有一百多年。它的材质语言的特性,它的造型表现的魅力,洞开东方视觉的生面。其特殊的意义源于它作为一种观视生活世界的迥异于传统中国的方式,建构起现代意义上的美术学院,继而吸引和造就新青年力量来逐步地发挥文化转型和文化振兴的作用。换言之,油画的传入和落脚不仅作为一种艺术形式,更是作为一种文化模式。这种模式既承载着某种被认知为普遍性的艺术历史的内涵,面向宏大的历史叙事和人性塑造,承担历史主体自我形塑的成熟而重要的方式,又是催生未来的个性生命和创新主体,发显时代性变革力量的培育路径。油画艺术所具有的这种成熟内涵与培育之道,使得它在20世纪新文化运动、新中国的历史
Oil paintings into China, a long history, but Chinese study oil painting, only a hundred years ago.
